Description

Alabama Hot Pockets are a savory pastry filled with a spicy mixture of sausage, cheese, and a blend of Southern-style spices, baked to golden perfection. They are perfect for a hearty breakfast or a satisfying snack on the go

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb spicy pork sausage
  • 1 cup sharp cheddar cheese, shredded
  • 1/2 cup bell pepper, diced
  • 1/2 cup onion, diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/4 cup jalapeños, diced (optional for extra heat)
  • 2 sheets puff pastry, thawed
  • 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  • In a skillet over medium heat, cook the sausage, bell pepper, onion, and garlic until the sausage is browned and the vegetables are tender. Drain excess grease.
  • Stir in the jalapeños and shredded cheese until well combined. Season with salt and pepper.
  • Roll out the puff pastry sheets and cut each into four squares.
  • Spoon the sausage mixture onto one side of each square, then fold the pastry over to create a pocket. Seal the edges with a fork.
  • Place the pockets on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Brush each pocket with the beaten egg.
  • Bake for 20-25 minutes or until the pastry is golden brown.
  • Let the pockets cool for a few minutes before serving.

Notes

  • The filling can be customized with different meats, cheeses, or vegetables.
  • Serve with a side of hot sauce or ranch dressing for dipping.
