Ingredients

  • 1 lb beef sirloin, thinly sliced
  • 1 large onion, sliced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon ginger, minced
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon oyster sauce
  • 1 tablespoon hoisin sauce
  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon sesame oil
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Chopped green onions for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  • Marinate the Beef:
    • In a bowl, combine the sliced beef with 1 tablespoon soy sauce, cornstarch, and a pinch of salt. Mix well and set aside to marinate for about 10 minutes.
  • Prepare the Sauce:
    • In a small bowl, whisk together the remaining soy sauce, oyster sauce, hoisin sauce, rice vinegar, sugar, and water. Set aside.
  • Stir-Fry the Beef:
    • Heat 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil in a large wok or skillet over high heat. Add the marinated beef and stir-fry for 2-3 minutes until browned but not fully cooked through. Remove the beef from the pan and set aside.
  • Stir-Fry the Onions:
    • In the same wok, add another tablespoon of vegetable oil. Add the sliced onions, garlic, and ginger. Stir-fry for 2-3 minutes until the onions are slightly softened.
  • Combine the Beef and Sauce:
    • Return the beef to the wok and pour in the sauce mixture. Stir everything together and cook for another 2-3 minutes until the beef is fully cooked and the sauce has thickened. Drizzle with sesame oil before serving.
  • Serve:
    • Garnish with chopped green onions (if using) and serve hot over steamed rice. Enjoy!
