Ingredients

Scale

For the Garlic Butter Steak:

  • 2 boneless ribeye steaks (or your preferred cut of steak, such as filet mignon or sirloin)
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil (for searing)
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter (for cooking)
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon fresh thyme (or rosemary)
  • 1 tablespoon fresh parsley (for garnish)

For the Lobster Tail:

  • 2 lobster tails (about 56 ounces each)
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • Fresh parsley (for garnish)

For the Garlic Butter Sauce:

  • ½ cup unsalted butter
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped
  • Salt and pepper, to taste

Instructions

1. Prepare the Ingredients

Start by preparing all your ingredients before you begin cooking. This includes bringing the steaks to room temperature by allowing them to sit outside the fridge for about 15-20 minutes. This ensures even cooking. Also, preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C), as the lobster tails will need to finish cooking in the oven after being seared.

2. Prepare the Lobster Tail

Using kitchen shears, cut the top of each lobster tail shell down the center. Gently pull apart the shell, exposing the lobster meat while leaving the tail end intact. Carefully remove any vein or digestive tract. Brush the lobster meat with a mixture of melted butter, garlic powder, paprika, salt, and pepper. Then drizzle with a touch of lemon juice for a fresh burst of flavor. Set the prepared lobster tails aside for later.

3. Prepare the Garlic Butter Sauce

In a small saucepan, melt ½ cup of unsalted butter over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and cook for about 1-2 minutes until fragrant. Be careful not to burn the garlic. Once the garlic has softened, stir in the lemon juice and fresh parsley. Season with salt and pepper to taste. Set this sauce aside to keep warm. This will be drizzled over the steak and lobster once they are cooked.

4. Cook the Steak

Heat 2 tablespoons of olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Season both sides of the steak generously with salt and pepper. Once the skillet is hot, add the steaks and sear them for about 4-5 minutes on each side, or until a rich, brown crust forms.

Once the steaks are seared, reduce the heat to medium and add 2 tablespoons of butter to the pan. Add the minced garlic and fresh thyme (or rosemary) to the pan, and spoon the melted butter over the steaks as they cook for an additional 2-3 minutes. If you prefer your steaks well done, transfer them to the preheated oven at 400°F (200°C) for about 5-8 minutes, depending on the thickness of the steak and desired doneness.

5. Cook the Lobster Tail

While the steak is resting, place the lobster tails on a baking sheet. Drizzle the lobster meat with any remaining melted butter mixture. Bake the lobster tails in the oven at 400°F (200°C) for about 10-12 minutes or until the lobster meat is opaque and tender. You can check for doneness by inserting a meat thermometer into the thickest part of the lobster tail. It should read 140°F (60°C) when fully cooked.

6. Rest the Steak

Once the steak has reached your desired level of doneness, remove it from the skillet or oven and let it rest for 5-10 minutes. This resting period allows the juices to redistribute within the steak, making it more tender and juicy.

7. Plate the Dish

Once the lobster tails are cooked and the steak has rested, it’s time to plate your dish. Place each steak on a serving plate and top with a generous drizzle of the garlic butter sauce. Next, place the lobster tail beside the steak. Spoon any remaining garlic butter over the lobster meat for extra flavor and shine. Garnish with fresh parsley for a burst of color and freshness.
