Ingredients

Scale

For the Stir Fry:

  • 1 lb beef sirloin or flank steak, thinly sliced against the grain
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 1 red bell pepper, sliced
  • 1 yellow bell pepper, sliced
  • 1 cup snap peas or snow peas
  • 1 small onion, sliced
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons fresh ginger, minced
  • 1 tablespoon black pepper (adjust to taste)
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons oyster sauce (optional)
  • 1 tablespoon hoisin sauce
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch mixed with 2 tablespoons water (for thickening)

Instructions

 Prepare the Beef:

  • Heat 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over high heat.
  • Add the thinly sliced beef and stir-fry until browned and cooked through, about 3-4 minutes. Remove the beef from the pan and set aside.

2. Cook the Vegetables:

  • In the same pan, add the remaining tablespoon of vegetable oil.
  • Add the sliced onion, bell peppers, and snap peas. Stir-fry for 3-4 minutes until vegetables are tender-crisp.
  • Add the minced garlic and ginger, and stir-fry for an additional 1 minute until fragrant.

3. Combine and Flavor:

  • Return the beef to the pan with the vegetables.
  • Stir in the soy sauce, oyster sauce (if using), hoisin sauce, and black pepper. Mix well to combine.
  • Add the cornstarch mixture and stir until the sauce thickens and coats the beef and vegetables.

4. Serve:

  • Serve the stir fry over steamed rice or noodles.
  • Garnish with sliced green onions and sesame seeds if desired.
