For the Stir Fry:
- 1 lb beef sirloin or flank steak, thinly sliced against the grain
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
- 1 red bell pepper, sliced
- 1 yellow bell pepper, sliced
- 1 cup snap peas or snow peas
- 1 small onion, sliced
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 tablespoons fresh ginger, minced
- 1 tablespoon black pepper (adjust to taste)
- 1/4 cup soy sauce
- 2 tablespoons oyster sauce (optional)
- 1 tablespoon hoisin sauce
- 1 tablespoon cornstarch mixed with 2 tablespoons water (for thickening)
Instructions
Prepare the Beef:
- Heat 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over high heat.
- Add the thinly sliced beef and stir-fry until browned and cooked through, about 3-4 minutes. Remove the beef from the pan and set aside.
2. Cook the Vegetables:
- In the same pan, add the remaining tablespoon of vegetable oil.
- Add the sliced onion, bell peppers, and snap peas. Stir-fry for 3-4 minutes until vegetables are tender-crisp.
- Add the minced garlic and ginger, and stir-fry for an additional 1 minute until fragrant.
3. Combine and Flavor:
- Return the beef to the pan with the vegetables.
- Stir in the soy sauce, oyster sauce (if using), hoisin sauce, and black pepper. Mix well to combine.
- Add the cornstarch mixture and stir until the sauce thickens and coats the beef and vegetables.
4. Serve:
- Serve the stir fry over steamed rice or noodles.
- Garnish with sliced green onions and sesame seeds if desired.
