For the Stromboli:
- 1 pound pizza dough (store-bought or homemade)
- 1 cup mozzarella cheese (shredded)
- 1 cup pepperoni slices (or your favorite filling)
- 1 egg (for egg wash)
- 1 tablespoon Italian seasoning
- Black olives (for eyes)
For the Dipping Sauce:
- 1 cup marinara sauce
- 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
- Roll out the pizza dough on a floured surface into a large rectangle.
- Sprinkle the mozzarella cheese and pepperoni evenly over the dough, leaving a border around the edges.
- Carefully roll the dough tightly from one long side to the other, sealing the edges well.
- Place the rolled stromboli seam-side down on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
- Cut slits in the top of the stromboli to resemble mummy bandages. Brush the top with a beaten egg.
- Bake for 20-25 minutes or until golden brown.
- While the stromboli bakes, prepare the dipping sauce by mixing marinara sauce, Italian seasoning, and olive oil in a small saucepan. Heat until warm.
- Once baked, remove the stromboli from the oven and place black olives for eyes before serving.
