Description

All the flavors of a delicious burger, but in a healthy, deconstructed bowl! Ground beef is topped with your favorite burger fixings like cheese, pickles, lettuce, and tomatoes, making it a satisfying and customizable meal.

Ingredients

Scale

For the Loaded Burger Bowls:

  • 1 lb ground beef (80% lean) or ground turkey (optional)
  • 4 cups mixed greens (lettuce, spinach, arugula, etc.)
  • 1 medium red onion, thinly sliced
  • 1 large tomato, sliced
  • ½ cup pickles, sliced
  • 4 slices cheddar cheese (or any cheese of choice)
  • 4 slices cooked bacon, crumbled (optional)
  • ¼ cup diced red bell pepper (optional)
  • ¼ cup diced cucumber (optional)

For the Burger Sauce:

  • ¼ cup mayonnaise
  • 2 tablespoons ketchup
  • 1 tablespoon mustard
  • 1 tablespoon dill pickle relish
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon hot sauce (optional for spice)
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

1. Prepare the Burger Patties

Start by preparing the burger patties. If using ground beef, form the meat into four equal-sized patties, about ¾ inch thick. Season both sides with salt and pepper. If you prefer ground turkey, feel free to use it as a leaner alternative.

Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat and add a little bit of oil to prevent sticking. Once the skillet is hot, place the patties in the pan and cook for 3-4 minutes on each side, or until they reach your desired level of doneness. A medium-rare burger will take about 3 minutes per side, while a well-done burger may take up to 5 minutes per side.

When the patties are almost done cooking, add a slice of cheese to each burger and cover the skillet to allow the cheese to melt. This should take about 1-2 minutes.

2. Prepare the Burger Sauce

While the burgers are cooking, mix up the burger sauce. In a small bowl, combine the mayonnaise, ketchup, mustard, dill pickle relish, Worcestershire sauce, and hot sauce (if using). Stir until all ingredients are well-combined and smooth. Taste and adjust the seasoning with salt and pepper as needed. Set aside.

3. Prepare the Bowl Base

While the burgers finish cooking, assemble the base for the bowls. Arrange the mixed greens evenly in four bowls. The greens form the foundation of the burger bowls and will provide a fresh, crisp contrast to the rich burger patty.

4. Assemble the Loaded Burger Bowls

Once the patties are cooked and the cheese has melted, it’s time to assemble the bowls. Place one cooked burger patty in the center of each bowl of greens.

Top the patty with slices of tomato, red onion, and pickles. For an extra touch of flavor, you can add diced red bell pepper or cucumber to the mix. If you’re including bacon, sprinkle the crumbled bacon over the top of each bowl for a crunchy, smoky addition.

5. Drizzle with Burger Sauce

Finish each bowl by drizzling the homemade burger sauce over the top. The sauce adds a creamy, tangy kick that brings the entire dish together.

6. Serve and Enjoy

Serve the Loaded Burger Bowls immediately, or keep them in the fridge for up to a day if preparing them in advance. These bowls are perfect for meal prep or a quick, satisfying dinner. Pair with your favorite beverage, and enjoy the perfect deconstructed burger experience!
