Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb ground beef (or turkey)
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 sheet of puff pastry (thawed)
  • 2 slices cheese (for eyes)
  • Ketchup or barbecue sauce (for decoration)

Instructions

I. Preheat the Oven:

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).

II. Prepare the Meatloaf Mixture:

  1. In a large bowl, combine ground beef, chopped onion, minced garlic, breadcrumbs, milk, egg, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper. Mix until well combined.

III. Shape the Meatloaf:

  1. Shape the meat mixture into a loaf on a lined baking sheet. Create a slight indentation in the center for a “mummy” look.

IV. Wrap in Puff Pastry:

  1. Roll out the puff pastry sheet on a lightly floured surface. Cut into strips (about 1-inch wide).
  2. Wrap the strips around the meatloaf to create a bandage effect, leaving gaps for the eyes.

V. Add Eyes:

  1. Cut circles from the cheese slices and place them in the gaps for eyes. You can also use small olives or peppercorns for a more spooky look.

VI. Bake:

  1. Bake in the preheated oven for 40-50 minutes, or until the meatloaf is cooked through (internal temperature should reach 160°F/70°C).

VII. Decorate:

  1. Remove from the oven and let it cool slightly. Drizzle ketchup or barbecue sauce over the mummy for added decoration.

VIII. Serve:

  1. Slice and serve warm. Enjoy your spooky creation!
