Ingredients
Scale
- 1 lb ground beef (or turkey)
- 1 small onion, finely chopped
- 1 clove garlic, minced
- 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
- 1/4 cup milk
- 1 egg
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1 sheet of puff pastry (thawed)
- 2 slices cheese (for eyes)
- Ketchup or barbecue sauce (for decoration)
Instructions
I. Preheat the Oven:
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
II. Prepare the Meatloaf Mixture:
- In a large bowl, combine ground beef, chopped onion, minced garlic, breadcrumbs, milk, egg, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper. Mix until well combined.
III. Shape the Meatloaf:
- Shape the meat mixture into a loaf on a lined baking sheet. Create a slight indentation in the center for a “mummy” look.
IV. Wrap in Puff Pastry:
- Roll out the puff pastry sheet on a lightly floured surface. Cut into strips (about 1-inch wide).
- Wrap the strips around the meatloaf to create a bandage effect, leaving gaps for the eyes.
V. Add Eyes:
- Cut circles from the cheese slices and place them in the gaps for eyes. You can also use small olives or peppercorns for a more spooky look.
VI. Bake:
- Bake in the preheated oven for 40-50 minutes, or until the meatloaf is cooked through (internal temperature should reach 160°F/70°C).
VII. Decorate:
- Remove from the oven and let it cool slightly. Drizzle ketchup or barbecue sauce over the mummy for added decoration.
VIII. Serve:
- Slice and serve warm. Enjoy your spooky creation!
