Ingredients

Scale
  • 12 oz spaghetti
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 can (28 oz) crushed tomatoes
  • 1 can (6 oz) tomato paste
  • 1 teaspoon dried basil
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • Fresh basil or parsley for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  • Cook the Spaghetti:
    • Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the spaghetti and cook according to the package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
  • Prepare the Sauce:
    • In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and sauté for about 1 minute, or until fragrant.
    • Stir in the crushed tomatoes and tomato paste. Add the dried basil, oregano, salt, and pepper. Stir well to combine.
  • Simmer the Sauce:
    • Reduce the heat and let the sauce simmer for about 10-15 minutes, stirring occasionally, until it thickens slightly and the flavors meld together.
  • Combine and Serve:
    • Add the cooked spaghetti to the skillet with the sauce. Toss to coat the pasta evenly.
    • Remove from heat and sprinkle with grated Parmesan cheese. Garnish with fresh basil or parsley if desired.
  • Serve:
    • Serve hot, with extra Parmesan cheese on the side if preferred. Enjoy!
